We tackled the sometimes thorny, sometimes daunting and sometimes fun (yes, really!) topic of funding in our latest webinar.
‘The reality of funding your business’ brought together a banker, a crowdfunding advisor and a woman with varied experiences of funding businesses, all expertly facilitated by journalist and presenter Clare English. We heard honest perspectives on the reality of handling funding options for a business, including what happens when things don’t exactly go to plan. Speakers were:
- Anna Gordon, a coach from Crowdfunder UK which runs a programme to help more women raise money for their business through crowdfunding
- Lynne Cadenhead, founder of non-alcoholic drinks company Immaculate Drinks, which successfully raised money last year through crowdfunding for their first batch of drinks.
- Carolyn Currie – a former banker who set up Royal Bank of Scotland’s women in business approach, and also CEO of Women’s Enterprise Scotland. Carrie stepped in at the last minute when our guest Paula Ritchie, Director, Business Development at Royal Bank of Scotland, was unexpectedly unable to attend, but her banking and business lending experience provided some invaluable tips.
We’ve been delighted with the response from those attending our webinars to date. Each one has booked to capacity well in advance and, as one attendee of the funding session commented: “Its great to have access to women who have experienced success and failure and are willing to share their stories.”
